Jeb Burton gets first-career win at Texas

Jeb Burton was able to keep his No. 4 Turner Scott Motorsports Chevrolet out in front of the No. 3 Richard Childress Racing Chevrolet in the closing laps of the WinStar World Casino 400 NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race at Texas Motor Speedway on Friday night to claim his first-career win in the series.

"This is freaking awesome," Burton said. "I'm just a country boy from South Boston (Virginia) living a dream."

Ty Dillon finished second, and Matt Crafton maintained the championship points lead with a third-place finish from behind the wheel of his No. 88 ThorSport Racing Toyota.

The win was also the first of the season for the Turner Scott organization.

"Everybody at Turner Scott Motorsports works so hard day in and day out," No. 4 crew chief Mike Hillman Jr. said. "It's good to get back to victory lane where we belong.

The Richard Childress Racing duo of Dillon and Brendan Gaughan in the No. 62 Chevrolet dominated the 167-lap race. After starting second, Dillon took the lead from pole sitter Johnny Sauter in the No. 98 ThorSport Racing Toyota on lap 12 and held the lead until he was passed by teammate Gaughan on lap 79.

Gaughan pulled away from the rest of the field once he got up front and built up a cushion of more than three seconds by the time the race field began cycling through green flag pit stops on lap 99. After the cycle was completed, Gaughan was back up front, but unlike before, Dillon was able to run him down.

Dillon retook the lead from Gaughan with 34 laps to go. The RCR teammates continued to run first and second until the third caution of the race came out for the No. 19 Brad Keselowski Racing Ford of Ross Chastain. Dillon was able to get off pit road first during the caution, but Gaughan lost positions on pit road and restarted fourth.

Burton was second off pit road and restarted next to Dillon on the front row, with Crafton and Gaughan on the second row for the restart. When the race went back to green, both Burton and Crafton got out in front of Dillon to claim the top-two spots in the running order. A few laps later, though, Dillon got back by Crafton for second.

"We didn't have any help on restarts," Dillon said. "Crafton was pushing the No. 4."

Dillon then set his sights on Burton and the race lead. He was able to gain ground on Burton in the closing laps, but ran out of time.

"One more lap," Dillon said. "One more turn was all I needed."

The No. 77 Red Horse Racing Toyota of German Quiroga finished the race in the third spot, and Crafton and Gaughan wound up fourth and fifth.
