Hornaday captures win during AAA Insurance 200 presented by J. D. Byrider Camping World Truck Series race
INDIANAPOLIS (July 23, 2010) The second night of Kroger SpeedFest is in the history books and a familiar winner was atop the standings following 200 laps of hotly contested racing as Ron Hornaday continued his mastery of the O'Reilly Raceway Park oval. With the win he claimed his second consecutive AAA Insurance 200 presented by J. D. Byrider NASCAR Camping World Truck Series race victory and the fourth of his career at O'Reilly Raceway Park.
While be battled with the pole sitter Timothy Peters, he also had to worry about Kyle Busch, who was matching his every step.
"You don't want to see Kyle Busch behind you as he makes you drive your guts out," said Hornaday following the race. "I guarantee to you I didn't just ride out there and this was the toughest 200 laps I've ever run at O'Reilly Raceway Park."
Busch finished just behind Hornaday for second place finish and is still seeking his first NASCAR Camping World Truck win at O'Reilly Raceway.
"We made it through the evening pretty well and thought we had shot to win here but we knew going into practice he was a little bit better than we were and unfortunately we didn't have enough for him," said Busch after the race. "Wish we had a little bit more for him because I gave it all I had and we burnt both fronts and both rears off that thing and there was nothing left of tire wear."
The final night of the Kroger SpeedFest culminates with the running of the Kroger 200 benefitting Riley Hospital for Children NASCAR Nationwide race on Saturday night. Gates open at 10:00, the same time of the first practice session.
