Despite Appendix Rupture Ron Hornaday Plans On Racing Saturday Night

KERNERSVILLE, N.C. (April 29)--Kevin Harvick Inc. (KHI) has reported that last Tuesday night April 26, after testing the No. 6 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet Silverado at Lowe's Motor Speedway, Ron Hornaday was experiencing pain in is stomach. He took himself to a Mooresville, NC area hospital, and learned that his appendix had ruptured. Outpatient surgery was performed, and Hornaday's appendix was removed. He was released that same night.

Hornaday has recovered and been cleared by his doctor to race on Saturday night in the Dodge Ram 200 at Gateway International Raceway. Hornaday's KHI teammate Tony Raines has traveled to St. Louis with the team and will be on stand-by driver status on Saturday night if Hornaday is unable to perform driving duties. Hornaday plans to carry out business as usual on Saturday, and said that he is almost at 100% and expects to be fully recovered by the time the green flag drops on Saturday night.

"I am focused and ready to race," said Hornaday, "I feel fine and look forward to driving the GM Goodwrench Chevrolet Saturday night in St Louis."
