ERIN CROCKER TO MAKE TRACK DEBUT AT HOMESTEAD-MIAMI SPEEDWAY IN THE NO. 05 CHEERIOS / BETTY CROCKER DODGE RAM
STATESVILLE, N.C. (November 15, 2005) -- Erin Crocker will head to Homestead-Miami Speedway for her 1.5-mile track debut this weekend, ready for her second NASCAR Truck Series start. Crocker became just the eighth female driver to start a NASCAR Truck Series event when she made her Series debut, starting 22nd at Phoenix last week.
In the season finale, Crocker will team up again with fulltime 2006 sponsor General Mills and its Cheerios® and Betty Crocker® brands on her No. 05 Dodge Ram when she takes the green flag on Friday.
"I've never driven a Dodge Ram truck on anything bigger than a mile, so it should be a good learning experience and I'm excited," Crocker said. "I've had success in the ARCA Series on tracks over one mile. Once I get used to it in practice, I think we'll have a good run in the truck."
Crocker will pilot the No. 05 Dodge Ram chassis nicknamed "Mini Me". This chassis has raced seven times this season and was driven by Crocker last weekend at Phoenix. The truck visited Victory Lane at Mansfield in May with NASCAR Truck Champion Bobby Hamilton at the wheel.
"I really enjoy working with Bobby Hamilton Racing and having the opportunity to drive his Dodge trucks," Crocker said." Bobby has been exceptionally helpful, and Danny Gill, the competition director there at BHR, has been a big help also. I'm disappointed with the way our day ended at Phoenix last weekend. But, I'm very thankful they are going to be able to make the repairs and we will be running the same chassis this weekend at Homestead."
The No. 05 team will be fielded by a partnership between Evernham Motorsports and Bobby Hamilton Racing. Crew chief Sammy Sanders from Bobby Hamilton Racing will make the calls this weekend, and the No. 05 crew from the BHR stable will pit the car.
