Gabi DiCarlo to Compete in Limited Camping World Truck Series Schedule in 2009
DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (February 6, 2009) -- The 2009 season will be a turning point in the career of ARCA RE/MAX Series driver, Gabi DiCarlo. The Phoenix, Ariz.-native is preparing to make her Camping World Truck Series debut on March 28, 2009 at Martinsville Speedway with Stringer Motorsports and long-time sponsor, Great Clips, Inc. DiCarlo has been driving for Stringer Motorsports for four years, first in the Hooter's Pro Cup Series and for the last two seasons in the ARCA RE/MAX Series in the No. 90 Great Clips entry.
DiCarlo's season begins this weekend at Daytona International Speedway in Saturday's ARCA RE/MAX Series season-opener event. She will then spend the next two months preparing for her debut into the Camping World Truck Series (CWTS) at Martinsville Speedway. DiCarlo will run a limited number of CWTS events throughout the season in addition to Martinsville including those at The Milwaukee Mile, Iowa Speedway, New Hampshire Motor Speedway and Phoenix International Raceway. Additionally, DiCarlo will run a total of 13 ARCA RE/MAX Series races in 2009.
DiCarlo's climb from the Hooter's Pro Cup to NASCAR is something that Great Clips has been extremely dedicated to over the last four years.
"We are so proud of Gabi and the progress she has made in her development," said Terri Miller, Great Clips Vice President of Marketing. "She never gives up and has persevered through many challenges over the years. Gabi is a wonderful representative of the Great Clips brand and we are looking forward to an exciting season in 2009."
Doug Stringer, owner of Stringer Motorsports, who for years was a staple in the Nationwide Series garage as a team owner, is excited to bring his team back into NASCAR.
"I'm thrilled to add another level to Great Clips marketing platform, expanding on their sponsorship of Jason Leffler in the Nationwide Series. It has been very rewarding to oversee the development of Gabi DiCarlo in her racing career and I look forward to watching her progress through the NASCAR ranks well into the future."
As for her part, DiCarlo can hardly wait for her March 28th CWTS debut.
"To make my first start in a NASCAR-sanctioned event is something I have been waiting for, for a long time," said DiCarlo. "Having the support and encouragement of Doug Stringer and Great Clips through all of the highs and lows over the last several years has made all the difference and has helped me get to this point in my career. I am 100% ready to face the challenges ahead and cannot wait to get started."
