Race Stats -
RACE DATE: Friday, June 7, 2002
TRACK: Texas Motor Speedway
EVENT: O'Reilly 400
STARTED: 16th (30.852 seconds, 175.029 miles per hour)

SUMMARY -
Bliss started 16th and was involved in an early spin on Lap 4. After pitting for repairs, Bliss, now 28th, raced back through the field and thanks to a pit stop to top off for fuel, was able to take the lead on Lap 60. Another tangle, this time with Jon Wood on Lap 87. Now a lap down after pitting for repairs, Bliss soldiered on to a 12th-place finish.

MIKE BLISS POST RACE QUOTES -

"We had an awesome truck right from the start. Unfortunately, we got taken out almost right away and we were somehow able to come back from that. Dave (crew chief Dave Fuge) had some great strategy to come in and top off on fuel and that allowed us to race all the way back to the lead..

"Then the caution came out and we had a lot of trucks a lap down. The we got to racing the 50 (Jon Wood) and I don't know why that happened. He was a lap down and loosened us up going down into the corner and got us turned around again. There was no reason for that to happen. That was one of those 'Young Guns' deals. You have to know when and who you're racing in this deal.

"Anyway, we got the IWX Chevy patched back up and somehow we were able to get a decent finish out of it. I know we took a hit in the points, but we'll go to Memphis and try to get that back."
