News & Notes

This week's truck:

"We are taking 'Spot' to Texas, and it is a truck we bought last year from Hendrick Motorsports. We named it Spot after we tested it earlier this year and it was in gray primer with a bunch of little spots on it."

Recapping last race:
Started 19th, Finished 21st, 175 of 200 Laps, Running, $11,315

"We had a tough weekend at Dover. That was probably the hardest crash (Small crashed in final practice, demolishing his primary truck) I have ever had in my career. We worked through it, the guys never gave up, and we came out with a 21st place finish. We tried to stay out of the way and stay out of trouble and we did. It showed me the guys will never give up, and I am going to carry that same attitude with me out on the track."

Previewing the O'Reilly Auto Parts 400:

"Another track I have never been to. Texas is a fast track with pretty steep banking, and that suits my style just fine. I love to go fast, and this could be as fast as we go all year.

"I am really going to rely on Bobby's experience at these 1.5-mile tracks to help us get up to speed quickly. He has been here in a Truck (last year) and he has a ton of experience at Charlotte.

"We have a good truck too, the Sunbelt Rentals Chevy ought to be pretty stout this weekend. We had a little team conference the other day and we all decided we needed to be a little more aggressive. We want to be up in the top-10 on a consistent basis and make a run for the Raybestos Rookie of the Year championship. We might bang up the truck a time or two, but we think using a little more aggression with pay off as the season goes along."

Jason Small will turn 23 on Sunday, two days after the O'Reilly 400.
