Bliss battled a balky handling IWX Chevy from the drop of the green flag, but still managed to take the lead thanks to a fuel only pit stop on Lap 20. The Milwaukee, OR driver slowly fell back in the field before coming to pit road in ninth position on Lap 61. Two more pit stops during the second caution period of the race put Bliss in 14th position, the final truck on the lead lap with 17 circuits remaining. A solid charge to the finish netted five positions and his 17th Top-10 finish in 20 events this season. It also marked the 80th Top-10 effort for Bliss in 141-career Truck Series starts (fourth all-time). Bliss retained his lead in the 2002 NCTS championship chase by a 68-point margin of Rick Crawford with two races remaining.

MIKE BLISS POST RACE QUOTES -

ABOUT HIS TRUCK TODAY...
"We were just way too tight today. We'd start off a run pretty good and then we'd get tight as the run would go on. We tried to adjust it all day long, but we just never got the truck to where we wanted it."

ABOUT ADJUSTMENTS ON HIS FINAL PIT STOP (LAP 75)...
"We came in for four sticker tires at the end of the race hoping to make the truck better. We just could never get the truck balanced enough to make a run to the front. Something had to be wrong with our truck because we never could get good balance throughout a run."

ABOUT THE CHAMPIONSHIP RACE...
"We didn't lose a lot of points, but we didn't gain any and that's what we really wanted to do. There's two more races left beginning with Phoenix next week. I like that race track a lot and have had a lot of success there in the past. "
