FONTANA, CA Engine problems sidelined Jason Small and the Small Motorsports Chevrolet 65 laps into the 100-lap American Racing Wheels 200 at California Speedway.  Small finished 24th out of the field of 36.

"We broke a crankshaft," said a disappointed Small after the race.  "It is a real shame too, because with the problems that some of the other guys had, we could have had a really good points day today.  But, there isn't much you can do when you leave the front half of the motor all over the racetrack."

Small has not given up on cracking the top-20 in NCTS points before the end of the season.

"We need to have a couple of trouble-free weeks at Phoenix and Homestead, but I think we can get it done," he said.  "We have really seen the momentum come our way, and this is just a little road bump.  We will get it turned around and see if we can't catch up to them at Phoenix."

Small and the Small Motorsports Chevrolet return to action in the Silverado 150 at the Phoenix International Raceway on November 8.  The event will telecast live on ESPN at 5 pm ET, and can be heard live on NASCAR Radio on XM Satellite Radio and MRN Radio affiliates nationwide.
