Casey Atwood behind the Bailey's Dodge again for California
California Preview (Casey Atwood): "I have had some really good runs at California Speedway and I have had some not so good runs there. It has been a mixed bag for me on the West Coast. I qualified seventh there in a Busch car in 1999 and we ran near the front all day. I have had some good runs there in a Cup car as well, we qualified pretty good there (12th) in 2002. I will be happy to get to California with these trucks where we can race on a normal type racetrack. I don't like the type of racing where you all run together in a pack all the time like Daytona."
Driving for Bobby Hamilton at California (Casey Atwood): "Bobby and I have known each other for a long time and I just think that I drive a lot like he does. He pretty much taught me how to drive. Ever since I was 12 or 13 years old I have patterned my driving style after his. I really appreciate that he has the confidence in me to give me the opportunity in this Bailey's Dodge. I just want to go to California and Atlanta and try and win for Bobby Hamilton Racing and Bailey's. This opportunity means a lot to me."
Waiting in the wings: (Timothy Peters, who will make his first NCTS start in Martinsville): "I learned a lot by observing at Daytona. I paid really close attention to how the trucks handle in the draft. I watched how Bobby Hamilton handled himself around other trucks. I am looking forward to going to California Speedway and continuing the learning process. I am really eager to get behind the wheel. I am just trying to do whatever it takes to help out the team. Spotting for Casey Atwood in Daytona was a new experience for me. I had never spotted in a NASCAR Touring Series race before. It is really nerve wracking up on the spotter's stand. It is more nerve wracking up there than it is behind the wheel. I am looking forward to being on the other end of that radio soon."
* Atwood will be making his third career NCTS start in the American Racing Wheels 200 at California Speedway.
* Atwood is racing the BHR chassis "Beavis" this weekend at California Speedway. Bobby Hamilton won with this chassis at Atlanta in 2004 and at Darlington in 2003.
* Atwood made his first career NCTS at Nashville on August 31, 1996, just six days after his 16th birthday.
* Atwood will be making his 6th career start at California Speedway on Friday. He has started three NASCAR Busch Series races with a best finish of 18th (1999). He has made two NASCAR Cup Series starts with a best finish of 28th (2002).
* Atwood has earned $181,560 in NASCAR competition at California Speedway.
On the performance of the No. 4 Bailey's Dodge (Randy Seals): "I thought that Casey Atwood did an outstanding job last weekend at Daytona. Casey was headed for a great finish but we just didn't make it through that last incident on the last lap. He had a great run on the white flag lap but we just got collected. We never really knew what we had until the last few laps because we were hanging back to miss the wrecks."
On working with Timothy Peters (Randy Seals): "Timothy really, really did a great job spotting for Casey on Friday night at Daytona. That was really the first time that he had spotted a real race. I was quite impressed by the job he did. He has pitched right in and done anything that we have asked him to do. He is anxious to learn and he is doing all the right things that he needs to get himself prepared to race this Bailey's Dodge when we get to Martinsville. He is a very sharp kid and a hard worker, and all that will pay off for him behind the wheel."
