SAN BERNARDINO COUNTY, Calif. (Sept. 28, 2010) -- U.S. Senate candidate Carly Fiorina will serve as an Honorary Starter for the NNS CampingWorld.com 300 at Auto Club Speedway on Saturday, Oct. 9.
As Honorary Starter, Fiorina, former Chairman and CEO of Hewlett-Packard, will wave the green flag to officially start the race. The 150-lap, 300-mile event is scheduled to begin at 1:30 p.m. local time and will be televised on ESPN2.
Fiorina served as Chairman and CEO of HP from 1999 to 2005, leading the legendary company through the dot-com bust and the worst technology recession in 25 years. During her tenure, HP's revenues doubled from $42.4 billion to $86.7 billion, with improved profitability in every product category. Today, HP is the largest technology company in the world.
Fiorina will get the on-track racing underway on Saturday to kick off NASCAR's "playoff" weekend.
