Dearborn, MI (August 21, 2000)- On Friday, August 25, 2000, four of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series' superstars will give you the chance to test your racing skills in the Ford Racing Zone at GameWorks. Meet NASCAR Craftsman Truck drivers Kurt Busch, Rob Morgan, Rick Crawford, as well as Dave Burns from ESPN at GameWorks in The Streets of Woodfield in Schaumburg from 8pm to 10pm for an evening of pictures, autographs and racing. Kurt, Rob, Rick, and Dave will be challenging fans on games like Daytona 2 and Indy 500 in preparation for the Sears Craftsman 175 of Chicago NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series event at the Chicago Motor Speedway in Cicero, IL on Sunday, August 27 at 11:30am CST.
Ford Racing and GameWorks have teamed up to develop the Ford Racing Zone at GameWorks. The Ford Racing Zone allows guests to experience the heart-pounding thrill of racing on the best motion simulation games around. When completed, the Ford Racing Zone will include a full scale replica NASCAR Winston Cup car, racing memorabilia, contests for Ford vehicles like the new Ford Focus, and appearances by some of racing's top drivers who will let fans test their racing skills against the professionals. This event in Chicago will also feature the giveaway of a new Ford Focus to a GameWorks patron in a contest sponsored by GameWorks and Ford Racing.
Kurt Busch, the 22-year-old rookie sensation driving the #99 Exide Batteries Ford F-150 will be in attendance for the event. Kurt drives for Roush Racing, and is the rookie member of the team affectionately known as the "Killer B's" with teammate and series points leader Greg Biffle. Kurt has two wins, in this his rookie season, at Milwaukee and Loudon and is currently forth in championship points. He is also dominating the rookie-of-the-year points championship and is stretching his lead every race.
Rob Morgan drives for Morgan-Dollar Racing in the #46 Acxiom/ AbiliTec Ford F-150. Rob is in his second full season in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series and brings a wealth of racing experience having raced Ferrari's at Daytona and competing in the SCCA Trans-Am series. Morgan has been making a move in the series since taking on Bill Ingle as crewchief. Ingle brings a ton of experience from the NASCAR Winston Cup series, having been a crewchief for Ricky Rudd among others.
Rick Crawford, the driver of the #14 Milwaukee Electric Tools/Circle Bar Hotel & RV park Ford F-150, has run very consistently this season and of late is beginning to come on strong. Hovering around the top ten in the championship points race, Rick is sure to be a threat throughout the remainder of the 2000 campaign. The race this week in Chicago marks the team's third week with Roush Racing engines and Rick looks to be strong.
Dave Burns, Motorsports analyst for ESPN will be in attendance as well to sign autographs and talk with race fans about the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series. Dave will also commentate the racing action and jump in the game and run a few races himself.
