Hines 21st in Dover Truck Race

DOVER, Del. - A late-race green flag pit stop for tires dropped Tracy Hines from battling for a top-10 finish to 21st position in the MBNA America 200 NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series race at the Dover International Speedway Friday, June 4. Chad Chaffin won the event.

Hines, who ran has high as seventh during a mid-race series of green flag pit stops, was 14th as the field took the green flag with 37 laps remaining at the one-mile concrete oval. After quickly passing to 13th position, Hines started slowing as the handling on his No. 88 Menards Chevrolet went awry.

"We thought we were going to get out of here with a top-10 or top-15 finish, but our luck ran out," Hines said. "We cut a tire on the restart. It was a slow leak. We thought we could ride it out, but it got so bad that we had to pit for tires just to keep from wrecking."

Hines narrowly avoided an accident just eight laps into the race. His truck suffered minor damage in an eight-truck wreck on the front stretch, but was able to continue.

The performance moved Hines to 21st in the series driver point standings.

The circuit continues with a June 11 race in Fort Worth, Texas.
