AMBROSE FINISHES IN DOVER
Team Australia's Marcos Ambrose has finished 26th in the eighth round of the NACSAR Craftsman Truck Series at the Dover International Speedway in Delaware today.
Ambrose again highlighted his potential in qualifying setting the fastest Rookie lap of 23.701 seconds, which was the 12th fastest time overall. Unfortunately, an unapproved adjustment during the impound period saw him drop to the rear of the grid.
Ambrose overcame the hurdle of starting at the back of the grid, completing 196 laps and bringing his Team Australia/Aussie Vineyards Ford F-150 truck home in one piece.
"Learning, learning, learning, that's what this is all about," said Ambrose.
"This whole process is going to take time, we knew that. The Wood Brothers/JTG Racing operation is being very supportive of this process
"We needed to re-group after Charlotte a couple of events ago and I think we have managed to achieve that."
Ambrose collected 85 points for his 26th placing and climbed to 34th in the Championship standings. His third race finish earned him $10,690 to take his earnings to $42,273.
Mark Martin was comfortable winner ahead of teammate Carl Edwards. Edwards, making a rare one-off start in the third No. 50 Roush Racing Ford, charged through the pack after a long pit stop under the last caution to finish second and give Roush Racing it's first one-two finish since Martinsville last fall. Current series leader Todd Bodine was third.
Bodine continues to lead the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series championship standings by 86 points over his Germain Racing teammate Ted Musgrave, who finished 18th.
Dave Reutimann is third, Johnny Benson is fourth, David Starr is fifth, Jack Sprague is sixth, Mike Bliss seventh, Martin moves back up to eighth, Matt Crafton ninth, and Dennis Setzer 10th.
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series moves on to Texas Motor Speedway for the Sam's Town 400 this Thursday and Friday.
