MILLER'S UP FOR THE CHALLENGE TO COMPETE AT DOVER FOR THE FIRST TIME
DOVER, Del. (May 30, 2006) - This Friday, Joey Miller races his No. 12 Curb Records Toyota Tundra at Dover International Speedway for the first time in his career.
"I've never run there before and actually I've never seen the place," said Miller. "The extent of my knowledge about the track is that it is a high-banked fast concrete one-mile track. I'm really excited to go back to another shorter track. Dover is a place where you can lift off the gas. It's not a wide open track like all these intermediate tracks we are going to."
The 21-year-old competes at the Monster Mile this Friday fresh off of his career-best finish of fifth, which occurred at Mansfield Motorsports Speedwaylast Saturday. The top-five position was also the No. 12 Curb Records Toyota Tundra team's best finish overall.
"We had a good finish last weekend," said Miller. "It's nothing to be surprised about because it's the way we should be running every weekend. It's what's expected. It's nice to be able to run strong and have a solid finish. Maybe this time we can do even better."
Not only was Miller the top finishing Raybestos Rookie last weekend, the 21-year-old owns the best overall finish out of the rookie class this season.
"There's a lot of rookies this year and some really good ones," said Miller, who is third in the rookie points standings. "To be able to have the best finish out of all the rookies is cool."
Miller is currently 19th in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series driver's points standings heading into Dover.
"We're hoping to continue our points climb at Dover," said Miller. "We're bringing the same truck that we raced at Lowe's Motor Speedway and California Speedway this season. Our best finish with that truck is 13th at California."
The AAA Insurance 200 at Dover International Speedway will begin at 4:45 p.m. Eastern on Friday, June 30th. The 200-lap event will be aired on SPEED Channel on a tape-delayed basis at 8 p.m. Eastern. MRN Radio will carry the race live.
