David Starr Geared Up For Another Top Finish
Irving, Texas...Carrying the momentum from their strong run at Charlotte, David Starr and the Spears Motorsports team are geared up for another top finish at the MBNA-America 200 At Dover International Speedway, Friday, June 4.
"Dover is a track I really like," says Starr, who earned third last year and a top five the year before. It is extremely fast and very much a driver's racetrack. You have to be up on the wheel from start to finish and really be focused. I like tracks that require that type of thought. The other important key is a good handling truck and our No. 75 Spears Chevy gives us that type of performance. With our crew chief, Dave McCarty's ability and all the support and technical help we get from Chevrolet we know we have the right package and we will definitely be dialed in come race time."
One of the most popular drivers on the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series circuit, Starr has been moving up in the Championship point's chase steadily. "We got a slow start due to a mechanical problem at Atlanta," says Starr. "But now we have things hooked up right and are ready to rock and roll. We've only run five races out of twenty-five and starting now the season gets hot and heavy. We pretty much race every weekend for the next few months and that definitely suits my lifestyle. I love to race and I really like this series. The racing is phenomenal this season and the competition is as tough as it has ever been. Each race is a full on battle from beginning to end and that's what makes the NASCAR Craftsman Trucks such a good show for the fans."
Known as the "Monster Mile", this is 5th year that the Craftsman Trucks have run at Dover International Speedway. "So far there have been four different winners," says Starr, "and it sure would be awesome to add my name to the list. I think we have a chance of getting the pole and our first win and that is what we are going to be trying for."
Qualifying for the MBNA-America 200 gets underway Thursday, June 3 at 3:15 PM and racers will take the Green Flag on Friday, June 4 at 4:00 PM. Coverage will be live on SPEED.
