TRAVIS, TELL US ABOUT YOUR RUN.

TRAVIS KVAPIL: "We didn't qualify very good, but like I told the guys after qualifying, 'Boy, the truck felt really good. It was good and balanced, it just wasn't getting the speed.' We just kind went through today and tried to stay out of trouble. The truck was solid after the first run; we made a few adjustments and put some tires on it and then with that caution there, we were able to pick up five or six spots there and we had a top-10 truck for sure. We just played the right strategy and had a good truck. It was fun. The truck was just a little tight; it was fun racing with Stacy. I was trying everything I new to get passed him in the last couple of laps. It was a good solid day for the Roush Fenway Racing."

HOW HARD IS IT FOR YOU TO RUN A LIMITED SCHEDULE AND DO WELL HERE TODAY? WILL YOU RUN FOR JON IN TOMORROW'S RACE?

STACY COMPTON: "Well, I haven't talked to him. I know Jon went to the hospital early but we'll see. But today, these trucks are so good, week in and week out and that you're eager. I don't want to make a mistake in the qualifying or make a mistake in the race either because I know we have good trucks. You get rusty when you have a few weeks off. It's a little adjustment. Once you get out there are run five or 10 laps you sort of get your feel back and are ready to go racing."

CAN YOU TALK ABOUT THE PIT STRATEGY? THE LEADERS STAYED OUT ON THE ONE CAUTION AND EVERYONE WAS DOING A GREEN FLAG STOP. WHERE DID YOU FIT IN THAT?

TRAVIS KVAPIL: "I was surprised that not everybody pitted. It was like lap 50 or something when the caution came out and we had three sets of stickers sitting on pit road and I think we could only go 85 or 90 laps on fuel and so we were past half way on the fuel run and then the top four or five guys or whatever decided not to come in. I think I was running seventh or eighth at the time, we went down pit road, put tires on it, made a small adjustment and I looked in the mirror and pretty much everybody behind me was followed me in, so we made the right decision. Then it went green all the way to where those guys that didn't pit, had to pit under green and they ran out of fuel and we still had about 10 laps to go at that point. So, I feel like the guys that pitted around lap 50, just made the right decision. You are over half way through a fuel run and definitely need tires to run finish the race. Why not come in and put them on?"

STACY, I THINK YOUR BEST FINISH THIS SEASON WAS 12TH BEFORE THIS, HERE YOU ARE ABLE TO FINISH AT THIS FAST TRACK AND BE REALLY COMPETITIVE WITH THESE GUYS. CAN YOU TALK ABOUT HOW MUCH FUN IT IS TO GET OUT THERE AND RUN UP FRONT WITH THESE GUYS?

STACY COMPTON: "It was a blast. I haven't been a truck full-time since 1999 and we ended '99 pretty good. I think fourth in points, a lot of top-10s and a lot top-5s. It's taken awhile; the trucks have gotten a lot more competitive. The splitter is a little bit different to drive than what I used to drive, I mean, it takes awhile. It takes a lot to build these things. This series has gotten extremely competitive. We had a great run in Kansas, we had wheel come loose. We ran top four, top five times all day. Should have come away with a good run there, but it feels pretty good. I'd like to run full-time here. Hopefully, as a part-timer, this will turn some heads and help me find something else while I'm trying to fill in."

SO FAR, THIS SEASON SEEMS TO BE DOMINATED BY ONE GUY, DO YOU THINK EVERYONE WILL CATCH UP TO GIVEN THAT IT'S SO EARLY IN THE SEASON?

STACY COMPTON: "Well, the Toyotas are tough and it's obvious that they've got a lot of horsepower, but the Fords are strong. You can't take away from those Roush-Yates motors. I think Ford has a great truck right now; obvious Toyota has a good truck. Those guys were a little bit quicker than us today and I think Johnny was coming right there at the end, so they're still tough. They're gonna be the truck to beat out there every week. I think we can compete with them."

TRAVIS KVAPIL: "Mike (Skinner) has done a good job with the 5 team. It is definitely been the team to beat all year long, but I feel like we've been close. For a team that's been together for two or three years, they've got the bugs worked out and give Mike a truck that he needs with the communication amongst the team. I feel like my 6 team, we've been has been a step off for part of the season, it took us a couple of races to get on track, now I feel like we've hit on some set-ups and things that I like. We're hitting our stride, so Mike's definitely done that. But teams like mine in particular I can speak for, we're just a step behind but I feel like we're closing in on them."
