Chase Montgomery Talks about Coach Bobby Hamilton
Dover Preview: "Dover is a fast race track. It is different than most tracks we race on because it has a concrete surface. Concrete tracks are known for their grip and they are not as sensitive to weather conditions as some tracks. I don't expect the track to change any from last year, which is good for me. I was having a solid run last June when another competitor's truck blew a motor in front of me and I hit the oil and then the wall. I am looking forward to returning to Dover because I expect us to run really well. My No.18 team and this truck are the defending race winner's and they have done a good job reminding me of that all week. Dover is a place if you finish the race it will be a good finish. I expect Bobby Hamilton Racing to unload strong this weekend and stay strong as the race progresses."
Coach Bobby: "Bobby Hamilton is an awesome coach. I have never had anybody who knows so much about racing take the time to help me like Bobby has. He is not only a proven race car driver he is a great teacher. I try to take advantage of every lesson he gives me and there are a lot of lessons that take place during a race weekend. I can study a track and have my opinion about it and Bobby can take out in the pace car for a lap and it becomes a whole new world. He knows everything there is to know about the trucks and the tracks we race on. I like to think he enjoys teaching Timothy and I. It is a way for him to give back to the organization. I know he can get frustrated with us sometimes, but that is why he is the champion and we are his pupils."
The Stretch: "Last weekend at Lowe's was our best finish of the season. It was a much-needed shot of confidence for this team and the driver. The performance has been there all season we just had never capitalized on it. When we got back to the shop this week and everyone is pumped up and excited going into Dover. Our schedule is really picking up after the race at Dover and I am thankful the long stretch is here. This team really picked up steam last year about this time and they were on top of their game during the summer. The momentum from last week will carry over to Dover and so on. Running every weekend has its positives and negatives. If you are running well the momentum can carry you far. However, if you get mired in wrecks the guys at the shop can get behind and that makes for some long nights. We are going to think positive and hope the coming weeks are the best finishes we have had all season."
* Montgomery is racing Angel this weekend at Dover. This chassis is the defending race winner of the MBNA 200.J
* Montgomery will be making his second NCTS start at Dover on Friday. He competed in last years' NCTS event and finished 28th.
Craftsman Re-Ups: "It was announced that Sears Craftsman has resigned their contract to sponsor the NCTS for five more years. I am glad the partnership will continue to grow. Sears Craftsman is an awesome sponsor and an excellent fit for the truck series. They provide our teams with great tools and continue to promote the series at the utmost level. It is encouraging to know Sears Craftsman is dedicated to the future of the truck series. I personally think it is the best racing out there right now and I hope everyone continues to take notice. I am confident in saying the best years for the truck series and Sears Craftsman is yet to come."
