DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (July 13, 2004) -- Gene Nead, crew chief for the No. 1 Dodge driven by Ted Musgrave in the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, has been fined $500 by NASCAR for a rule infraction that occurred this past weekend at Kentucky Speedway.

Nead was found in violation of Section 12-4-A (actions detrimental to stock car racing) and Section 12-4-Q (truck, truck parts, components and/or equipment used in the event that do not conform to NASCAR rules) of the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series Rule Book, because of an unapproved spring-loaded air dam.

The violation was found during the event's initial inspection process last Friday (July 9).
