Cindric earns full-time NASCAR Truck ride for 2017

Cindric, 18, made his debut at Martinsville Speedway in October 2015 and will make his sixth start on Friday at Phoenix International Raceway. His best result was here at Phoenix when he finished 14th in this race last season. 

In four ARCA starts, Cindric started on the pole in his Pocono debut in June. He won at Kentucky Speedway in September. 

"One of the things we wanted to do at BKR is give talented young drivers an opportunity to take the next step in their career," said team owner Brad Keselowski.  "Austin Cindric has already had success in various forms of racing and he has shown a lot of potential in our truck. We're happy to give him an opportunity to compete full-time at a high level in NASCAR next season."

Cindric is the son of Tim Cindric, President of Team Penske. 

Cindric's extensive racing resume

Cindric, who is a senior at the Cannon School in Concord, N.C., started racing Legends and Bandoleros before graduating to F2000 in 2013. The following season he added Global RallyCross to his resume and won a bronze medal in the X Games Austin. Cindric became the youngest driver to compete in the Bathhurst 12 Hound finished seventh in his class. 

This season, in addition to trucks and ARCA, Cindric raced in the K&N Pro Series East. He entered two races — at Virginia International Raceway and Watkins Glen — and won both. Cindric also drove the No. 6 McLaren for K-Pax Racing in the Pirelli World Challenge. 

Keselowski will firm up truck numbers and Cindric’s teammate at a later date.
