Christopher Bell to compete in Pinty’s Series season opener
Bell becomes the third CWTS driver to enter this race in recent years, driving for 22 Racing next weekend.
NASCAR Camping World Truck Series driver Christopher Bell has entered to compete in the Can Am 200 next weekend at Canadian Motorsport Park in the season opener for the NASCAR Pinty’s Series.
Bell, who’s currently second in the Truck Series points standings and has already won this season at Atlanta Motor Speedway, will compete in the No. 22 car fielded by 22 Racing.
Bell, 22, drives for Kyle Busch Motorsports in the Truck Series and will be the third driver in recent years to enter the season opener for the Pinty’s Series to gain some track time ahead of the fall Truck race in September.
Ty Dillon entered the Victoria Day weekend event in 2013, finishing seventh ahead of the inaugural Truck race later that year at the historic facility located outside of Toronto. Kaz Grala entered this event last May and finished 20th ahead of his first start at the facility.
The 2.459-mile (3.95 km) road course is one of the most challenging in North America and the only road course on the Truck schedule, so the opportunity for Bell to gain valuable track time is important.
“We are extremely pleased to have the opportunity to provide a car for a driver of the caliber of Christopher Bell,” said team owner Scott Steckly. “I have no doubt he will be battling for the win when the checkered flag falls on lap 51 of the Can Am 200.”
The Norman, Oklahoma, native finished third in the Truck standings in his rookie season after compiling nine top-five and 17 top-10 finishes. He’s scored one win, two top-fives and three top-tens in three starts so far this season.
Bell will be arriving at Canadian Tire Motorsport Park Saturday the morning after competing in the fifth CWTS event of the year on May 19 at Charlotte Motor Speedway.
