BUESCHER AT CHICAGOLAND: Buescher has made one career start at Chicagoland Speedway, as he competed in the ARCA RE/MAX Series race at the 1.5-mile tri-oval last year (2008). Piloting the No. 32 Win-Tron Racing car, Buescher started the race from the 10th position, but an engine failure resulted in a short 26 laps and a disappointing 36th-place finish. This week's race will be the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series' inaugural event at the Illinois racetrack.
CHASSIS INFORMATION: This week, crew chief Jamie Jones and the No. 10 MaxxForce International Ford team will unload Circle Bar Racing chassis CB-16. This particular chassis has been rebuilt with a new body and Friday night's race will mark the first time that Buescher has driven this Ford F-150.
CHICAGO CONNECTION: Buescher's sponsor, Navistar's International Trucks & MaxxForce Engines, will have a NCWTS event in their backyard for the first time, as the company is headquartered in Chicago, Illinois. On Tuesday and Wednesday, Buescher and his Circle Bar Racing teammate Rick Crawford will be visiting the International Melrose Plant and Navistar World Headquarters to tour and gain behind-the-scenes access to their sponsors' facilities.
SPECIAL PAINT SCHEME: As the Truck Series blows into the Windy City, Buescher will be carrying a special Chicago Connection-themed paint scheme on his Ford F-150. During the NCWTS Celebration at Navy Pier's Gateway Park in Chicago on Wednesday afternoon, the No. 10 truck will be unveiled by Buescher and Navistar. SPEED pit reporter Ray Dunlap will host the event and participating drivers will be on hand to sign autographs.
CLOSING THE GAP: Through the first 15 races of the 2009 NCWTS season, Buescher currently sits third in the Raybestos Rookie of the Year point standings. Last week's solid effort at Bristol Motor Speedway allowed the gap to be closed between the top-three contenders. The Texas native is only nine points behind second-place Johnny Sauter and 10 points behind leader Tayler Malsam.
TEN TO GO: The 2009 season for the NCWTS has entered the final stretch as the series only has 10 races to go before the next champion is crowned. Up to this point, Buescher and the No. 10 team have posted one top-five finish (Milwaukee), three top-10 finishes, and nine top-15 finishes. In addition, the 19-year-old has captured the Raybestos Rookie of the Race honors three times.
PREVIOUS RACE RECAP: Last Wednesday night at Bristol Motor Speedway, Buescher drove his MaxxForce International Ford to a solid 13th-place finish. After being caught a lap down and fighting a tight-handling condition, the team rebounded and posted their ninth top-15 finish of the season.
BUESCHER (On racing at Chicagoland Speedway): "This weekend's race in Chicago should be a very good race for my MaxxForce International team. Jamie (Jones) and all of the guys have worked hard to build this truck and we are expecting some good results out of it. It has a new body on it and this will be the first race that I have driven this chassis, so I'm excited. Chicagoland is a fun track to race at and since this is the first year that the trucks are racing there, it's nice to be on the same playing field as everyone else. Last year in the ARCA car, my engine blew towards the beginning of the race which cut our day short, but I was able to make some laps and learn some things that should help us out."
BUESCHER (On visiting Navistar's facilities Tuesday and Wednesday): "Anytime you can visit your sponsors is always enjoyable. International Trucks and MaxxForce Engines are great products and it is an honor to represent them on the racetrack each week. To take tours of the plants and headquarters should give me some more insight into the building process and then on Wednesday, we will get to unveil the special paint scheme for this weekend. I'm excited about the opportunity and it should be a great race all around. Hopefully we can get our MaxxForce International truck in Victory Lane."
