Timothy Peters Looks To Rebound On Home Turf
* Peters at Charlotte...The North Carolina Education Lottery 200 will mark Timothy Peters' fifth start at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Peters has his work cut out for him at NASCAR's home track. In four previous events, he earned his best finish of 23rd in 2006. In 2005 and last May in 2009, Peters was involved in accidents that took him out of the race early. Those two DNF's combined with finishes of 23rd and 25th in 2006 and 2008 respectively, Peters has yet to finish on the lead lap at CMS. Not fazed by his past results, he feels he's in the best position yet to earn his first top-10 finish on the 1.5 mile quad-oval. Behind the wheel of his favorite chassis, Peters plans to rewrite history this Friday night.
* Still In The Hunt...Peters faced a set-back to his championship run at Dover last weekend. A blown right front tire resulted in an overheated engine and Peters was forced to accept his first DNF of the season. The result was a slip in the Camping Truck Series driver point standings from holding the lead for several weeks to entering the Charlotte weekend in third place. He may be down, but he is certainly not out. Peters is just 72 points behind the leader. The #17 Tundra now sits fifth in Owner Point Standings, 74 points back.
* Racing Close To Home...Many NASCAR teams look forward to the weekend they get to race right in their own backyard. Red Horse Racing is located just a few miles from the speedway, in Mooresville, NC. The close proximity gives Peters a chance to meet the fans in town for two weeks of racing action. Peters and teammate Justin Lofton will take part in an Open House at Pit Instruction and Training on Tuesday, May 18th. They will sign autographs from 3-6pm. PIT is located at 156 Byers Creek Road, Mooresville, NC.
Timothy Peters on racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway "I'm excited to be back behind the wheel of chassis #138. I've not had the best luck at Charlotte in the past but I am confident we can have a good run this Friday night. We need to get out of this slump we've been in the past two races and get going again. Charlotte is as good a place as any to make that happen."
Jeff Hensley on racing at Charlotte Motor Speedway "Charlotte hasn't been one of my favorite tracks. I've had fast trucks there but not the finishes I thought we deserved. Charlotte is a tough race track. It always has been but seemed to get even tougher with the repaving. This is going to be an important race for us. We had two bad weekends in a row so it's critical that we get back on track with this race."
Equipment Information Timothy Peters will compete with chassis #138 in the North Carolina Education Lottery 200 at Charlotte Motor Speedway. Peters last raced this chassis at Nashville where he finished fourth and Kansas where he finished 23rd due to electrical issues.
