Tim Sauter Ready for Charlotte Action
The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series will show off their talents in the Quaker Steak and Lube 200 at Lowes Motor Speedway the night before the track will host the Nextel Cup Series All Star event on Saturday evening. For Wisconsin native Tim Sauter this Friday's truck race is time to show that the slow start to the season is behind and that the Lester Buildings sponsored team is ready to move up in the point standings.
The Green Light Racing team participated in all six sessions during a two-day NASCAR test at the fast mile and a half speedway last week. "We we're not very good at the start of the test on Thursday but the guys kept working on the truck and we managed to get into the top-half of the speed charts the last two sessions on Friday. We don't have the speed that the Toyota's have but we should be alright," explained Sauter.
This weekend's race is the second race in a seven-race partnership with SS Racing and Green Light Racing; ASI LIMITED, Spectrum Metal Finishing, Akzo Nobel and Aluminum Shapes will join Lester Buildings on the #07 Chevy again this week. "We finished 21st at Atlanta in our first race together and I think we've made a lot of progress with our performance since then," Sauter said about the SS Racing partnership. "I'd like to give them a better finish at Lowes."
The Carquest Autoparts 300 will be Tim's 9th start in the NCTS and 122nd career NASCAR start.
This will be the sixth time Tim has competed at Charlotte in NASCAR's top three series. Best Finish; 13th on October 12th, 2002 driving the AP Performance Chevy in the NBS.
Tim has completed 99.1% of the laps he has competed in at the Lowes Motor Speedway.
This will be the fifth season Green Light Racing has competed at Charlotte in the NCTS. Best finish; 6th on May 16th, 2003 with Jeremy Mayfield driving the #07.
Tim's thoughts on the Lowes Motor Speedway: "They repaved the track last year and this place is really fast. They took out the bumps and it really changed the track. I feel pretty good after the test we learned an awful lot about how the track changes from day to night. We just need a good solid finish to get us going the right direction."
