TERRY COOK-10-Power Stroke Diesel by Int'l Ford F-150 (Finished 2nd)
"The Power Stroke Diesel by International Ford was just awesome tonight. These guys gave me a good truck. We knew we were good after qualifying - we were obviously disappointed with a 29th-place effort - but they just dropped the green and this thing was going straight to the front. I've never had a truck here that you could drive it into the corner that deep, and that's what made this thing so good tonight. We could go into the corner three wide, two wide, it really didn't matter. Unfortunately right there towards the end we were running down Skinner and got within about 10 truck lengths of him and then we really tightened up and we were sliding up the track and I was searching for some grip, trying to search around and the 15 got us. We just got a good run tonight."
THIS IS YOUR FIRST TOP-FIVE FINISH IN OVER A YEAR. "The guys told me at Fontana, the Roush-Yates guys, that when we get to Charlotte that we're going to have something for them, and we sure did. This is the first brand new truck and everything we've had until this date is stuff we built from last year. This is our first brand new truck, so I just can't wait to get into the next truck in the next race."
WAS THE TRUCK TOO TIGHT TO PASS BUSCH FOR THE WIN? "It was. We were running Mike Skinner down at a pretty high rate of speed, and Kyle was slowly running us down, but the truck just got real tight. We were having trouble getting it right through the center, and I finally had to lift. Up until then we were almost wide open around this place. When it started tightening up I had to protect the bottom, and unfortunately I couldn't race Kyle as hard as I wanted to trying to at least run second."
RICKY CRAVEN-99-Superchips Ford F-150 (Finished 10th)
"This was a brand new truck and there's always a little bit of a risk with bringing a brand new truck to the race track without testing it, but that was the only choice that we had. If you told me midway through the race that we would be 10th, I'd said, 'OK.' I was really, really struggling, but the guys hung with it and just kept tuning and tuning, and we just brought it home. It wasn't easy."
WERE YOU SURPRISED BY THE AMOUNT OF CAUTIONS TONIGHT? "I think we've got to take some spoiler off of these trucks. It felt more like Daytona here than Charlotte. The outside lane would really fly because you couldn't afford to get bogged down on the inside. It was an interesting night. I don't like the cautions, so I don't think it was much fun for the fans, but the cautions gave us a lot of opportunity to work on the Superchips Ford, and we needed it."
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE RACING SURFACE? "It's fantastic. It's a lot cheaper than repaving the race track, but it feels the same. It's really impressive."
TODD KLUEVER-50-World Financial Group Ford F-150 (Finished 20th)
"I was so excited about coming here and we were just off all weekend. I think everybody could see that. We were lucky to get 20th. We were a back marker all night long no matter what I did. I drive my heart out every lap I'm in there and some weeks you get a first-place truck and some weeks you don't. Like I said, it's nobody's fault. John Monsam did everything he could to try to get it to come around, but it was just off all weekend. Nothing we did made it any better. It was just inconsistent and unbalanced, out of control and doing different things every lap. We're testing Texas on Tuesday and Wednesday with this truck, so they'll go home and fix the little bit of body damage we got on pit road tonight and hopefully we'll go to Texas and figure out what happened to our best handling truck so far. I was real excited about coming here and we got to bring that truck, and that's the one we ran at California and finished fourth with and ran at Atlanta that I absolutely loved, and just couldn't get it to duplicate anything tonight."
HOW WAS THE RACING SURFACE TONIGHT? "It's good, but as more and more rubber got down you had a tendency to lose sight of where they ground and where they didn't. You can definitely feel it as far as grip in the track, but as far as the track changing, I can't answer that because we were inconsistent and out of control."
