CARL EDWARDS -99-Superchips Ford F-150 (Finished 2nd)
"First of all, I have to think Superchips for being our sponsor and I appreciate that; they do a lot of once things for us. I have to thank Jack Roush for giving me this opportunity to drive this truck. Kevin Starland (crew chief) and the crew did a perfect job. I was fortunate to get the lead and I guess I saw a little bit of tire debris and I saw that truck on the bottom. I believe my spotter said, 'Slow truck,' or something like that and for some reason I really thought there was a caution. I waved off Dennis Setzer, saw him lift a little bit and then it struck me that, 'Hey, there aren't any caution lights on.' That's about the dumbest thing that I've done in my career, and I'm so upset with myself right now that I can't describe it. I apologize for not being happier about second place, but I can't describe how bad I feel right now."
ARE YOU TAKING THE BLAME?
"It's my fault. I take the blame 100 percent. That was completely my fault. That's my job to drive that race car and to win that race. I shouldn't lift off that gas pedal until I know there's a caution and that's my fault. I've told people I am my toughest critic, and I'm really going to have a hard time getting over this."
TALK ABOUT THE PASS YOU MADE ON MICHAEL WALTRIP FOR THE LEAD.
"I apologize, but maybe Michael didn't notice we were racing for the lead, and that's how I race to win."
