David Starr Plans To Once Again Narrow The Point Spread

Charlotte, N.C...When the Green Flag signals the start of the Infineon 200 at Lowe's Motor Speedway, Friday, May 21, David Starr and Spears Motorsports will be looking to once again narrow the point spread in this year's NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series.

"We've moved up considerably the last two races," says Starr who posted two top tens in two events. "The season is basically just getting underway and with twenty-one events left, we should be able to get in the top five without too much problem. I really like running at Lowe's Motor Speedway. It is a great track and definitely suits my style of driving. The Spears crew has been working hard to get our No. 75 Spears Chevy Silverado in top running order. I think we will be able to get everything dialed in during practice and should be good to go."

One of the top-ranked drivers on the circuit, Starr has more than proved his prowess behind the wheel of the Spears Chevy. "We know that the key to winning a championship is consistency," he continues, "and that is what we are aiming for. Naturally, you always want to win every race, but that doesn't necessarily give you the championship. In fact, last year's champion only won one event the entire season. I really would like to earn this year's title, both for Wayne and Connie Spears and for Chevrolet and with lots of races left, I feel we have a good chance of doing just that."

Last year marked the inaugural Craftsman Truck race at Lowe's Motor Speedway. "You know you've hit the big time, when you get to run in Charlotte," smiles Starr. It is the heart of NASCAR country and the fans are incredible. I can't wait for next weekend, it is a real rush." Page 2

Running 134 Laps for 201 miles, drivers will take to the track on Thursday, May 20th for practice and qualifying. Then on Friday, May 21st, will thunder off the Startline at 8:30 PM, in an all out battle for victory.

"The NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series is really intense competition," sums up Starr. "The field offers fans a chance to see some of the most outstanding action anywhere around. In four races there have been four different winners and there are a number of other competitors who are totally capable of being first across the finish line. Charlotte should be an even bigger battle, as some of the Nextel Cup drivers plan to run and that will make it even more fun.
