Chase Montgomery Glad to be A Part of All Star Weekend
Lowe's Preview: "Lowe's is a really fast track and Charlotte is such a great town. I love going there. I think the man to beat during the race this weekend will be the one who can stay wide open and take care of his tires. It is the same story every week with the new Goodyear tire. They have a great tire with a lot of grip, and it is a matter of taking care of them. The key is balancing speed with comfort when setting up the truck. Lowe's is a very sensitive track, especially to the weather and it will through you a curve ball when you are least expecting it. I am glad I am the driver heading into this weekend and not the crew chief. They have to make some tough decisions. You really have to stay ahead of the track changes and have great pit stops to be there at the end."
Testing at Lowe's: "We tested at Lowe's a couple of weeks ago and I learned a lot from Bobby. I have struggled there the last few times, but I learned some very helpful information by following Bobby around and learning what is the fast line around the track. I enjoy testing because it is more relaxed than a race weekend and I am able to ask questions and really soak up the information. I expect all of BHR to be fast right off the hauler. They did a great job grinding the race track. They took a lot of the bumps out, but still left enough character in the track that it is still Charlotte. It will make for exciting side by side racing."
All Star Weekend: "Ultimately, it is the same as any race weekend, but Charlotte does an awesome job at promoting the All Star Weekend. It is an enormous crowd and Humpy Wheeler knows how to put on a show.
A lot of fans will come in for the entire week of festivities and come to our race because they are there.
I personally think they will see the best show of the weekend because I think we have the most competitive series right now. Our races are shorter which forces us to be on our toes the entire race. There is no hanging in the back for 100 laps. Normally, we make one or two pit stops so you have to be good from the start. We don't have a lot of chances to adjust on the truck like the other two series do."
* Montgomery is racing Scarface this weekend at Lowe's. This chassis raced eight times last year, including Charlotte, finishing in the top five twice.
* Montgomery will be making his second NCTS start at Lowe's on Friday. He competed in last years' NCTS event and finished 24th. J
* Montgomery has three starts in ARCA RE/Max competition at Lowe's, with a best start of second and best finish of third. He has one NASCAR Busch Series start in the fall of 2003, driving for Brewco Motorsports.
Team Goals: "We are still learning each other as a team. We are starting to put it all together and it is beginning to work. We had a really strong run going this past weekend at Mansfield until we ran into some trouble. But that is short track racing and it continues to get the best of me. We received some minor damage on the track and went down a lap on pit road. After that, nothing went our way. The team is working hard every week and we are beginning to gel. We practiced pit stops today and are going to practice them everyday until we leave for Charlotte. The guys are working hard to improve on pit road and that is all I can ask. Bobby is going to work with me more and help me to better learn these race tracks. We have all the right ingredients for a great team. We just need to keep digging and we will begin to see better results."
