Colin Braun, driver of the No. 6 Con-way Freight Ford F-150, is in fifth place in the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series standings heading into this weekend's race at Las Vegas. Braun has gained 15 positions in the points since he left Dover in 20th place in May.
WHAT DO YOU LOOK FOR AT LAS VEGAS MOTOR SPEEDWAY? "I think we definitely have to go out there with the idea of trying to win the race. I think we have a good truck. It's the same truck we won with in Michigan and finished third in Chicago, so it's a proven fast truck. We had a good run there last year, running third on the last lap until the last corner when we got spun out. We had a lot of speed in our truck last year in Vegas and I really feel good about it. I think we a really good chance to win this race with the momentum on our side and the way these guys keep doing pit stops and kind of trucks we're bringing to the race track, I think we definitely have a shot at it."
DOES IT REALLY OPEN UP THE GROOVES FOR YOU WITH THE WAY THEY HAVE IT BANKED IN VEGAS? "I think it does. I feel like racing at Las Vegas is fantastic. Last year it felt like the second groove worked pretty good, but the bottom groove was fast as well. That's what makes it fun. You can run in the middle or the bottom. It seems like the top groove never really comes in for the truck, but certainly the bottom and the middle grooves come in. It makes for really good racing and it's a lot of fun. I like going out there. The Vegas crowd is always really cool. You get a lot of really good fans out there, which always makes for a good race."
HOW CONFIDENT ARE YOU IN THIS TRUCK, KNOWING IT'S THE SAME ONE YOU WON WITH AT MICHIGAN AND FINISHED THIRD WITH AT CHICAGO? "I feel like its definitely one of the better trucks that we have. It's the house favorite truck, that's for sure, and it's been that way for the last three or four years. I really love driving this truck. Its one that you seem to practice with and you think, 'We're going to be okay, I think it's going to be pretty good.' Then, you qualify okay, not great, but you qualify okay, and you get into the race and, man, that thing really just comes to life. It seems to be really fast during night races for some reason. When the nighttime comes it's really fast. It's the same truck we run at Charlotte and qualified okay with, but we had to start by points, unfortunately, because it rained. We were leading the race there and then got wrecked. It seems like every time you get to the night, the truck really comes alive, so it should be fun."
