Prelude: Bobby Hamilton enters his second event of the year in the No. 4 Dana Dodge at Martinsville Speedway, one of his favorite tracks. Hamilton, who has one win and one pole in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series at the historic Virginia half-mile track, also won the pole for the Truck Series event run in 1996. To say that Hamilton can not get around this track is an understatement. Last year, Hamilton started the event from the 22nd position and was in the top 10 with a handful of laps left when the engine let go. He and the team do not expect a repeat of that since they changed engine builders over the winter and now have Joey Arrington power plants. It is safe to say that the team is very excited about Hamilton's chance at a victory.
Miles led: Hamilton enters the event ninth in miles lead (15.0) in the truck series, despite having started only one event this year.
Going for a Record: Hamilton is trying to become only the fourth driver in history to win a race in the NASCAR Winston Cup Series, the NASCAR Busch Grand National Series and the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, provided he takes home the victory in Saturday's NAPA 250 event. The other drivers that have accomplished this feat are Mark Martin, Ken Schrader, and Terry Labonte.
Career Earnings: If Hamilton can collect $6,010 in earnings in the NAPA 250, he will surpass the $ 100,000 mark in career NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series earnings. Starts: When Hamilton takes the green flag at the start of the Martinsville event, it will be his second start of the year and his 14th overall in the Truck Series.
