David on California Speedway's NCTS Race: "We had the right truck with our Spears Chevrolet Silverado in California. It's just the way it played out. We were awesome right from the start. We even led the most laps 57. It's a shame we had a pretty good hotrod that night and I thought we could have won the race. Coming off turn 2, I got underneath someone and my Silverado just broke loose. I tried to catch it, it caught and we ran into the fence. Hopefully we'll put our Spears Manufacturing Chevrolet in Victory Lane this weekend in Atlanta."
David Comments on Atlanta Motor Speedway: "Atlanta Motor Speedway is an awesome facility. Especially the way the racetrack is laid out. That's the style of a racetrack I really like racing on, the mile and a half tracks. They always have plenty of room which makes it a very challenging fun race. The one thing about the Atlanta Motor Speedway that's different than the others is that it has multiple grooves. It has three or four grooves on the thing."
"Last year in Atlanta we had a fluke, something in the engine -- a parts failure. Ron Hudder, my engine builder is one of the best in the industry but the parts you buy to put into the engines malfunction its just part of racing. The Spears Manufacturing team is anxious to go back racing in Atlanta and run the whole race. I think I have the right truck to run well in my Chevy Silverado."
"Atlanta Motor Speedway is the 2nd fastest race track in the circuit for us and it's a great race track to run at. When the NASCAR Craftsman trucks are in Atlanta, we put on one heck of a show for the race fans and I believe they are going to love it."
Recent Charity Involvement - Speedway Children's Charities:
"Speedway Children's Charities events are always a lot of fun. Anytime you can raise money for kids that are not as fortunate as a lot of us are is always a great day. Recently I played golf- I'm definitely not a golfer but playing with a lot of the great NFL players and a lot of the current players is really pretty cool. Randy White, a hall of fame member, Ed "to tall" Jones another member of the hall of fame and Jimmy Johnson who played with the Red Skins when they won their Super Bowl back in the 80's were just a few of the attendees. There was just a ton of NFL players there and we played golf and it is all for a good cause. It was a fun relaxing day; the course we played was beautiful. Definitely my golf game is nothing to even speak about; it's actually awful. But it wasn't about if I was a good golfer or not, it was about raising money for the kids and we did that and had a good time doing it."
