Alex Bowman gets a Truck ride for Atlanta
Hendrick Motorsports’ super-sub Alex Bowman has a ride this weekend at Atlanta Motor Speedway.
GMS Racing announced Bowman, who drove Dale Earnhardt Jr.’s No. 88 Chevrolet to a third-place finish in the Dayton Clash non-points race, will compete in Saturday’s NASCAR Truck Series race at Atlanta in its No. 24 entry.
Bowman will fill in for Justin Haley, who is too young to compete in the series’ first two events of the season. The race will make Bowman’s first start in Trucks since 2015, when he finished 11th in his only previous series start.
Haley will make his first start for GMS at Martinsville, Va., next month.
Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series driver Chase Elliott, Bowman’s teammate at Hendrick, will drive the organization’s No. 23 Truck entry at Atlanta.
