Patrick Carpentier will race in his homeland in just over one month. The native of Joliette will challenge for the NASCAR Nationwide’s NAPA Auto Parts 200 victory on August 18th. The 2007 Pole winner returns to the Circuit Gilles Villeneuve in Montreal with the RAB Racing / Michael Waltrip Racing team.

Carpentier has twice finished second on the temporary circuit, and he is looking for the win driving the No. 99 Napa Auto Parts Toyota. “The Montreal race is my Daytona 500,” he said,

The French-Canadian knows his homeland circuit very will from his open-wheel racing days. At the end of the 2011 Nationwide race, Carpentier decided to not return for the NASCAR event but then again, he is a racer at heart and he does care about others.

The former 1996 Formula Atlantic Championship title winner added, “I know I said last year would be my final race, but I’m a racer. When they called and asked if I would run Montreal again it didn’t take long for me to answer. I’ve said many times that winning in Montreal would definitely be a highlight in my career.”

Moreover, this year’s race is different, because my participation will benefit the Montreal Sainte-Justine Hospital Foundation. “
