NASCAR racing in Europe will continue to thrive thanks to a new agreement between Euro Series founder Team FJ, NASCAR and Whelen Engineering.
The three organizations have announced a five-year extension of their agreements that will keep the NASCAR series under its current name through 2024.
“Whelen Engineering has played a big role in NASCAR for many years and we are ecstatic to continue to support the sport with this extended relationship,” said Phil Kurze, Whelen Engineering vice president of motorsports.
“Our ability to build brand and product recognition nationally and internationally due to our partnership helps drive our business and reach new customers.”
For series President and CEO Jerome Galpin, the partnership validates the growing popularity of the series throughout Europe.
“In a time characterized by uncertainty for many racing series in Europe, we are really happy to announce this extension that gives the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series even more long-time perspective, providing teams, drivers, fans and all our partners an unparalleled temporal horizon,” said Galpin.
“Whelen Engineering and NASCAR are amazing partners and we are very proud of their confidence. NASCAR racing has a huge potential in Europe and we have years in front of us to continue developing the series, which is one of the most successful of the last decade”
Galpin, 2017 Euro Series champion Alon Day and others are in Charlotte, N.C., this week for the annual NASCAR Touring Series Award Ceremony. The Whelen Euro Series will open the 2018 season on April 13-14 at the Circuit de la Comunitat Valenciana Ricardo Tormo in Valencia, Spain.
