Two NASCAR K&N Pro Series drivers have been invited to participate in the NASCAR Whelen Euro Series’ driver recruitment program.

Will Rogers and Max Tullman, each of whom made starts in both the K&N East and West series this season, will take part in a recruitment test session Dec. 4 and 5 at Autodromo Franciacorta in Italy.

The program is designed to expose up-and-coming drivers to the possibility of experiencing NASCAR competition in Europe. The series featured 28 car entries and more than 60 drivers from 21 different countries this year.

Rogers, 23, finished fifth in the K&N Pro Series West standings this season with nine top-five and 12 top-10 finishes and one pole in 14 races. He also competed in and won two races in the K&N Pro Series East – at Watkins Glen, N.Y., and New Jersey Motorsports Park.

“I think this could be a really good opportunity for someone in my position, especially coming off my first full K&N Pro Series West season,” Rodgers said. “Having several wins on road courses, going to a series like NASCAR Euro, they primarily run on road courses and we could go win some races.

“Depending on how I do in the drive development program will determine that. You never know where it can take you. If I do well over there, it could translate into more opportunities back here in the United States.”

There’s also the possibility that Rodgers and/or Tullman could participate in a NWES exhibition race on Dec. 6 which is part of the Bologna Motorshow.

Tullman, 20, competed in four K&N races this season – three in the West and one in the East. His career-best finish is ninth – at Bakersfield, Calif., and New Jersey Motorsports Park.

“I think it’s a good opportunity for a pair of American race car drivers who do well on road courses. That series does two races a weekend and generally has two drivers per team,” Tullman said.

“That would be a good thing for Will and I to get involved in, as well as trying to get to do more road course races here in the U.S. I think it’s good for our sport having Americans go over to Europe and race.”

Both Rodgers and Tullman said they would consider competing in the NASCAR Euro Series if the opportunity arose.
