Motorsport.com -- The Burrell family will have a happier Thanksgiving in Huntersville, NC as Bobby Burrell gets to go home.

Burrell was released today from the Carolinas Medical Center in Charlotte after his recuperation was successful. Burrell was still bruised and, due to the head injury, has some minor dizziness.

Burrell, tire changer, was injured in the pit lane accident at Homestead November 11th during an incident involving Casey Atwood and Ward Burton while the Ricky Rudd Taurus was being serviced in the pit box by the Robert Yates team. He was immediately air lifted to Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami in critical condition with head injuries.

In the week that followed, Burrell made rapid improvement in the Neurosurgery Intensive Care department and by November 13th, he was moved to a private room. From there, he was eventually and privately transported to Charlotte.

Robert Yates mandated helmets for his team members going over the wall; at the same time NASCAR recommended that the over-the-wall crew wear helmets.
