Burton and CAT Team readies for the Winston.

"This race is real exciting for the fans. We definitely put on a great show for them under the lights at Lowe's, but it can be a very nerve-racking race for the drivers. I don't think we have ever finished well in this race. It ends up being a big group of drivers doing anything they can to collect the big check."

BURTON ON THE WINSTON

"The Winston has been one of the most exciting races of the season. The reason is that none of these guys are out here running for points. They can let it all go for the one night and not worry about it affecting the season point standings. I haven't had a whole lot of luck in this race. We either have had mechanical problems or wrecked in just about every race. I hope this year can turn things around for us.

"We had a great car here last fall and finished third in that race. If we can get that kind of car and not have any problems, then we should be able to have a shot at the big money. Winston does a great job with this race. They put a lot of money up for the winner and they do a lot to promote such a great race. It'd be nice to win this one, collect the check and know we'll have a car we could run next week and have a shot at the win too.

"I know there has been a lot of talk about The Winston moving to another track and I'm not sure that's a great idea. If they're going to continue to run The Winston, then they should keep it in Charlotte. Even though I don't live in the area, it is home to a lot of people in the racing community and it gives them another weekend to be with their family. We have a lot of guys on the CAT team that live in the Charlotte area, so it's great for them.

THE NEW FORMAT OF THE WINSTON

There will be three segments - 40, 30 and 20 lap segments. The fans will get the chance to vote on how many cars will be inverted for the final 20-lap shootout. There is mandatory pit stop during the first segment, giving the CAT pit crew the chance to show their stuff. The top-20 finishers from the first segment advance to the second segment. The top-10 finishers from the second segment advance to the final segment of The Winston. Those 10 cars will have a shot at the $750,000 purse to win the race.
