-Elliott Sadler on The Winston
VIEW FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT WITH ELLIOTT SADLER:
"You show me a driver who doesn't love The Winston -- you can't because there isn't any. If you need some reasons, I can tell you that first of all, it's awesome for the team guys who work their tails off and who can stay home with their families. The Winston is run on a Saturday night. It's a great show for the drivers, and a good place for the crew guys to strut their stuff for the home crowd. It's 100% pure adrenalin and as a driver I am ready to bring home that million. The Winston is a little more flash, a little more aggressive and a lot more memorable."
VIEW FROM THE PIT BOX WITH CREW CHIEF RAYMOND FOX III:
"We have stressed to the pit crew that a lot of our qualifying position is dependant on their pit stop for qualifying. The Winston has a set of rules all their own, and a real chance for us to shine. Also, I was around on the 28 team when Davey Allison won at the first running of the Winston. I have faith in Elliott and would love to get the job done."
SPOTTER BRETT GRIFFIN'S VIEW FROM ABOVE THE TRACK:
"Before every race, Raymond reminds Elliott to remember the big picture. For the Winston, the big picture is a one million dollar payout to the winner. This is the coolest race of the year for me as a spotter. These guys go out there and drive their guts out for 90 laps and no one is racing for points. It's all about bragging rights for the next year. I will be Elliott's biggest cheerleader on the roof Saturday night, so I can't wait."
"M&M's"® RACING BITS AND PIECES...
NOTABLES & APPEARANCES...
- Another helmet toss? Don't expect another helmet toss from Elliott Sadler in this years running of the Winston. Sadler is constantly reminded of the toss since it shows up on almost every sports highlight show regarding auto racing. "I think I learned my lesson the last time about tossing a helmet at Ryan Newman," joked Sadler. "For one thing, Newman ended up winning the race so maybe the helmet hit gave him an advantage. Second, it cost me a lot of money when NASCAR hit me with a fine."
- M&M's Hoops for Hope T-shirts will be available for $16 at www.SadlerFanClub.com.
- Where is Green? The Green M&M® will have to take a back seat this weekend since Sadler will race the Pedigree® car featuring "Callie" the golden retriever on the side. "Don't worry," said Sadler. "She will be back."
