'Weepers' bring NASCAR track action to a halt at Texas

Track action at Texas Motor Speedway remains suspended as crews work on “weepers” – water pouring up from under the track surface.

Both Sprint Cup Series practice sessions were canceled as track safety crews began working early Saturday morning to dry the track and drain the weepers from heavy overnight rains.

The area around the Fort Worth, Texas, track – has been inundated with heavy rain much of this week.

Throughout the day, several fans have needed their vehicles towed out of ankle-deep mud in some outside parking lots.

NASCAR still hopes to hold the O’Reilly Auto Parts Challenge Xfinity Series race this afternoon. It is scheduled to begin at 3:30 p.m. ET and aired on NBC.
