"If you can stay on course and hit all your marks, you can have a respectable day even if you don't have a great car. You can't get off in the gravel or it can definitely ruin your day, but the good thing is it won' t ruin your car. We hope to have a good run this weekend, just like we did last month in Sonoma." - Frank Stoddard, crew chief of #22 Caterpillar Dodge
What to expect at Watkins Glen--
"We can expect to have some ringers in the competition and that will make it harder on the regulars, but they can learn from them too. We'll try and get the car to turn the best we can for Ward and get a good starting spot. Pit stops are a little different for the guys, but it basically is a two-second inconvenience. It's also possible that fuel mileage will come into play this weekend and that could shake the field up some. We had a problem with the carburetor in Sears Point and that got us behind, but we were able to make up our lost track position with fuel mileage and ultimately it got us a 16th-place finish."
Cat equipment for the Sirius at the Glen--
"We'll finish up our road course lineup with the same car that we raced with at Infineon Raceway. It is car #46 and it is a strong road course car. We had great lap times and were on target to have a stellar finish with the #22 until we had a carburetor problem and had to pit several times. We hope that this road course race will produce better results."
Ward Burton and Bill Davis may part ways--
"Ward expressed that he was looking to race another five years and we weren't looking to extend his contract when it runs out next year, so we talked about making a mutual separation that would allow him to explore other opportunities," said Mike Brown, General Manager of BDR. "The ball is in his court and it appears he is looking at the opportunities that are available."
