Rain cancelled Friday's qualifying session at Watkins Glen; the field for Sunday's race was set per the rule book. The weather cost two Ford Racing drivers an opportunity to qualify. For Boris Said, driver of the No. 60 No Fear Energy Ford Fusion, this is the second race in a row he's missed because of rain. Said was the fastest of 39 qualifiers at Daytona in July before rain washed out that session, too. Said will attempt to run one more race this year, at Talladega, in the fall. Marcos Ambrose, driver of the No. 77 Camping World Ford Fusion, loses an opportunity to qualify for his first Nextel Cup race.
BORIS SAID -- No. 60 No Fear Energy Ford Fusion
"For a part-time team, you don't get to race that much, and two races in a row get taken away. I don't understand why the schedule can't be adjusted and just qualify tomorrow when it's going to be sunny. It's just hard for a small team. It pretty much puts us out of business. It puts me out of business. It's just a lot of income lost."
ANY MORE PLANS FOR THE REST OF THE YEAR? "We're going to Talladega. That's our next race. That's our last race."
IS THERE ANYTHING THAT CAN HAPPEN AT TALLADEGA THAT CAN HELP? "We've shown performance every time we've gone, but the problem right now, an independent team, it's almost impossible. Right now, it's just depressing."
MARCOS AMBROSE -- No. 77 Camping World Ford Fusion
DESPITE TODAY'S EVENTS, YOU'RE STILL SMILING. "Always smile. Just the way the day's gone. We got rained out, it delayed the session to start, then only got about six laps on the car. We were undercooked anyway, I was probably a steak tartar before qualifying. I'm just disappointed I couldn't get a shot at qualifying into the race. But, we've been chased so much this week anyway. The media frenzy that has been created around this whole deal, it's been great for me, personally. I can't complain."
THIS PROBABLY WASN'T ONE OF THE THINGS YOU WERE CONCERNED ABOUT THIS WEEK. "You expect it. We're a long way north. We're around the Finger Lakes, and where there's water, there's rain. You know, I don't take anything for granted. I always smile and am happy because I don't expect the best, I expect the worst, and I'm happy with surprise when it works out. I sort of half had a feeling that we might've gotten rained out, and here we are."
THIS WOULD'VE BEEN YOUR FIRST CUP START. WHAT'S NEXT? "There's no guarantee on anything. I'm just really excited we actually got this opportunity in the first place, and hopefully it will happen again. I can't predict it, but hopefully it'll work out."
