WATKINS GLEN, N.Y. -- Max Papis finished 43rd in Sunday's Centurion Boats at the Glen after his No. 70 Haas Automation Chevrolet was heavily damaged in a nine-car wreck with only seven laps remaining in the race.

Papis rolled off the starting grid in the 42nd position after qualifying was washed out by rain and the field was set according to the owner's points standings.

Battling a tight handling car, Papis ran in the mid-30s for most of the race before the wreck. Coming out of Turn 11 at speed, Papis said he was on top of the wreck before he knew what was happening.

"Cars were flying everywhere and there was really no place to go," Papis said. "Unfortunately I ended up in the wall. My heart is broken because we where having a good run and didn't deserve to finish this way," he said.

"I appreciate Haas CNC Racing giving me this opportunity and all of the hard work that the team put into the car. It seems senseless that our day had to end this way, but overall I had a blast," Papis said.
