Harvick Wins at The Glen; Fifth Top-Five Finish In-A-Row

Watkins Glen, NY, (August 13, 2006) - After Sunday's AMD at The Glen victory at Watkins Glen International, GM Goodwrench driver Kevin Harvick has given all GM customers and NASCAR fans a chance to win too.

Throughout the 2006 NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series season, anytime the No. 29 GM Goodwrench Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS is first past the checkers, the first 5,000 people who visit www.Goodwrench.com starting at 3 a.m. Eastern Daylight time the Monday after the win can celebrate with a $10 mail-in rebate on a customer-paid Goodwrench service(s) and/or part(s) on a GM vehicle from a participating GM Goodwrench dealership in the United States.

"It is pretty cool that this is the second time we have won this year and have given our GM Goodwrench fans another chance to win too," said Harvick. "I hope we can continue to give GM customers a few more opportunities to participate."

Participants will need to print a GM Goodwrench Victory Lane Savings Rebate certificate and submit it, along with a copy of an eligible work order from the dealership, to claim this rebate. The certificate will be available from 3 a.m. Monday through 3 a.m. Friday following the win by the No. 29 GM Goodwrench/Reese's team, or until 5,000 rebate certificates have been printed, whichever comes first. To be eligible, the vehicle service(s) and /or part(s) purchase must take place within 30 days and be submitted within 60 days of the date on the certificate.

Harvick started seventh for the AMD at The Glen and ran in the top-10 during the early stages of the 90-lap event until he took over the lead on lap 58. The Bakersfield, Calif. native led the next 23 laps before a hard charging Tony Stewart completed a pass with nine laps-to-go. The event's 10th and final caution came out one lap later, allowing Harvick to relay a message to his crew before the restart on lap 85. "There is no way I can drive it into the corner like that," said Harvick referring to Stewart's impressive pass. "But if we can go green for more than a couple laps I believe I can pass him back."

Harvick was true to his words. With only three laps remaining, "Happy" reeled in Stewart and drove away for the finish. This victory is Harvick's second of the year and fifth top-five finish in a row. It moves him up one more position in the points standings to third, where he now sits 323 markers out of the lead.

"He (Stewart) had passed me going into the inner loop," Harvick said after the race, referring to a chicane requiring a quick right turn and then a left at the end of the backstretch. "I went to the inside to block him and he just flat out drove around me. Tony drove 200 feet further in there than I'd ever thought about. He was in the dirt smoking his tires and I said, 'Obviously, I am going to have to pick it up here. "I knew my only shot to get him back was getting into (Turn) 1. I knew I was only going to have a couple of chances, so I took my chance, it stuck, and I went on by. It's great when you get to race your buddy for the win."
