WHAT HAPPENED AT THE END? "We don't know. The upper arm of the suspension is broken. Coming out of turn one, as I turned into turn two the car just ran straight ahead into the wall, so either the tire came off the rim or that happened because of the arm breaking. It was a big impact, but there was nothing I could do about it. As I turned the wheel the car just went straight ahead."
HOW WAS YOUR CAR UP TO THAT POINT? "We had ups-and-downs. I think we had a reasonable car, but the race didn't come to us. We had some problems in practice, but the guys from Robert Yates Racing did a great job in putting another engine in and therefore we had to start from the back. There were too many cautions and I couldn't make my way to the front. It was a shame because I would have loved to see that Citifinancial car up there. It's unfortunate."
GREG BIFFLE - No. 16 Subway/National Guard Ford Fusion (Finished 38th)
"It was unfortunate. I don't know what happened back there. I don't know if I ran Kyle out of room or the guys are saying it looked like maybe he couldn't stop as quick and got in the back of us. I'm not sure. I really, really honestly don't know what happened, but we had some trouble besides that. The car wasn't stopping for some reason. We were just looking at the brakes and the brake pads don't even have 1/16th of wear on them. I bet the back brakes are about gone. In turn one the thing just never stopped all day, so we're frustrated about that with what happened to our brakes. That stuck us in the back because we couldn't pass anybody. You pass on a road course under braking. That's the only time you pass, so that was unfortunate. Our car handled OK, but we couldn't stop with anybody. That was sort of frustrating, but getting run into in the middle part, I don't know what happened. We'll just have to take a look at it and see if I made a mistake or somebody else did. I don't know."
WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS ON THE CHASE NOW? "I don't have any. We just run every race that we can. We've got four more races before the chase and we'll just see what happens."
JAMIE MCMURRAY - No. 26 Crown Royal Ford Fusion (Finished 3rd)
"I had to worry about Robby behind me because he was really good on restarts and when I was on the outside my car just didn't have any grip. We had brake problems yesterday and all the guys did a great job getting the brakes to work. I had good brake balance all day and that's important when you come to Watkins Glen."
STRATEGY WAS BIG FOR YOU TODAY? "Yeah. Bob Osborne earned his keep today for sure. He made a great decision to pit there and he felt confident that we could make it on fuel. I tell you, Jack and all the guys at Yates have done a great an incredible job of getting us good fuel mileage and my motor today was unreal. When I would go up through the esses, I could out-brake guys into the inner-loop because I had a huge run on them. I had huge power today."
WHAT WOULD SALVAGE THIS YEAR FOR YOU? "Winning for sure and, really, I thought I was better than Kevin. When I restarted second or third and I saw Kevin was leading, I really thought I could get by him and Tony was so far back, but Tony's car was better on the short runs it seemed like, but it was a good day for us."
IT WAS A GOOD DAY OVERALL. "We certainly needed a good run and we didn't tear anything up. The guys had great pit strategy and we had a great pit stop when we came in and that's so important here."
CARL EDWARDS - No. 99 Office Depot Ford Fusion (Finished 5th)
"Considering we started the day with a flat right-front tire, I thought we were done. I'm very proud of my guys and the pit strategy. Wally had a great pit strategy so it was a lot of fun. Wally said, 'I've got a plan,' so that's what we did and it worked out. That was fun."
WHAT HAPPENED ON THE LAST LAP? "It looked like Boris was gonna out-brake Ryan and Ryan went to cut in front of him and I think Boris was just going too fast. I think I went in between them. I don't know exactly what happened, but that was wild. That was fun."
A FEW MORE TOP FIVES AND YOU MIGHT BE BACK IN THIS CHASE HUNT. "This was one of those races I was really nervous about. I can't believe we ended up top five here. That's good."
ELLIOTT SADLER - No. 38 M&M's Ford Fusion (Finished 8th)
"The guys did a good job on strategy. It's the same strategy we used at Sears Point, we came in and put four (tires) under caution and then come in and get gas only and that brought us out third. I just got a little too loose at the end, but it was a great job and a great run. The car was great. We wanted to use the strategy too, but the guys did a good job. It's one of the best cars I've had on a road course and it was fun."
BORIS SAID - No. 60 SoBe No Fear Ford Fusion (Finished 6th)
"The first half of the race was terrible. I just missed the handling a little bit and made a bunch of mistakes wheel-hopping, but we came back. I really wanted fifth and I was disappointed in Ryan Newman. He was running out of gas on the last lap and it's OK to block one way, but he blocked me once and moved twice and I got into him. I couldn't help it. I was already committed to that side, so I was disappointed in that. Sixth place isn't bad, fifth would have been better but, still, the four races I've done this year I'm pretty pleased."
YOU'RE DONE WITH THE FOUR RACES YOU SCHEDULED FOR THE SEASON. ARE THERE ANY PROSPECTS FOR MORE THIS YEAR? "I don't think anymore this year, but we're just gonna get to work on next year. I really want to do more races and build our team up. We've got a great bunch of guys and my relationship with Roush and the cars and motors we're getting is just great. I shouldn't be disappointed with three top 10's, but I really would have like to try and win one of these road courses. I just missed the setup a little bit today, but next year with the car of tomorrow, we're gonna get to work on it and really develop it and come out strong for the road races."
