The final road course weekend of the season got off to a slow start as rain hampered the NASCAR Winston Cup Series all day at Watkins Glen International. Practice was scheduled to begin at 10:30 a.m. and a dozen cars were able to get out and make a couple of laps, but then the rain began to fall. The weather didn't clear until 3:30 p.m. at which time NASCAR decided to give the teams an hour of practice and postpone qualifying until 10 a.m. Saturday morning. The qualifying session will consist of one lap and will lock in the top 36 times for Sunday's running of the Global Crossing at the Glen. The final seven spots will be determined by car owner points. The Global Crossing at the Glen is scheduled for Sunday at 12:30 p.m.
