Watkins Glen, NY (February 22, 2001) - In the wake of the tragedy that took the life of Dale Earnhardt during Sunday's Daytona 500, Watkins Glen International is providing various opportunities for fans to pay their respects to one of NASCAR's greatest drivers.

Fans are invited to stop by The Shop, the track's retail store on Franklin Street in the village of Watkins Glen, to write their favorite Dale Earnhardt memories or condolences to the family in a special book. This book will then be sent to the Earnhardt family with a donation from The Glen to the Carolina's Foundation, the charity chosen by the family for memorial donations.

"Dale Earnhardt was a great driving talent and a warm and gracious person off the track," said track President Bryan R. Sperber. "His loss will be felt in our hearts for a long time. We want to give the fans in this area an opportunity to remember Dale in their own way and this book allows them to do that."

The Shop is open Monday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Fans are also welcomed to stop by the racetrack and leave memorial items at Gates 2 and 3 as a tribute to Earnhardt.

Individual donations for the Carolina's Foundation can be sent to Carolina's Foundation, Attn: In honor of Dale Earnhardt, P.O. Box 34769, Charlotte, NC 28234-4769.
