M&M's team ready for final road course of season
ELLIOTT SADLER'S VIEW FROM THE DRIVER'S SEAT:
"We tested at VIR and had a real good test so we'd be ready for Watkins Glen. Pitting will be different since we come down pit road on the opposite side that we are used to. The guys have been practicing pit stops back at the shop to make sure they are ready for Sunday. Last week was disappointing but I don't have anything but praise for the guys in the motor department. Robert Yates horsepower is the best in the business and sometimes things happen. We hope this weekend brings a good qualifying run and start up front. Last year this RYR team sat on the pole for this race. It's hard to pass at the Glen -- there are only certain times on the course where you can. I'd like to leave there with a top 10 and head to Michigan on a high note."
CREW CHIEF RAYMOND FOX'S VIEW FROM THE PIT BOX:
"We are taking a brand new car to Watkins Glen -- chassis #133. Last week Elliott and DJ took the cars to VIR and shook them down. I think we were all pretty happy with the results."
SPOTTER BRETT GRIFFIN'S VIEW FROM ABOVE THE TRACK:
"We can only see the cars for about 12 seconds so it's not like we play a huge role in the race. We typically have two spotters there and could use three spotters if the facility supported it. The main places we need spotters there are in turn one and at the inner loop. Unfortunately we don't have the support from the track to have a spotter in turn one so we have to communicate what we see as best as possible from the top of the esses. The road course itself is totally different from Sears Point because there are left and right handers. Sears Point is made up of mostly right handers."
