Carl Edwards on racing at Watkins Glen:
"We finished third at the last Cup race at Watkins Glen. We've run really well there and this is one of my favorite race tracks on the schedule. I'm hoping that the success we've had lately in the Nationwide Series on the road courses will help me on the Cup side. The biggest thing we need to focus on is qualifying. We've got to qualify better so we can have a leg up at the start of the race."
Crew Chief Bob Osborne on racing at Watkins Glen:
"Pit strategy plays a huge role at the road courses, so we've been preparing for many different scenarios. Last year we elected to pit early so Carl could keep his track position late in the race. It's very important to get through the corners as fast as possible while also keeping the car on track. One of the biggest mistakes a driver can make at a road course is getting off track because even if the car isn't damaged you lose so much time."
Carl Edwards enters Watkins Glen 10th in the NASCAR Sprint Cup point standings, 414 markers behind point leader Kevin Harvick, but is 136 points ahead of Mark Martin in 13th. He has three top-five and 10 top-10 finishes this season.
ON THE TRACK...The Aflac team will bring chassis RK-656 to Watkins Glen this weekend. Edwards raced this chassis at Sonoma in June where he finished 29th. He also ran it at both road course races in 2009.
