SPARTA, KY - NASCAR Winston Cup Driver Mike Wallace completed a two-day test of his #7 Nation's Rent Ford today on the1.5-mile tri-oval at Kentucky Speedway. Winston Cup Driver Matt Kenseth completed a one-day test of his Roush Racing #17 DeWalt Tools Ford on April 16.

Wallace's Ultra Motorsports team experimented with new shock and spring combinations and raced to an unofficial fastest lap of 172.52 mph. "We're able to try some combinations here that we wouldn't normally try during regular Winston Cup testing," Wallace said. "We'll also gain some knowledge about this track and be able to compare our notes with our Ultra Sports Craftsman Truck Series Team to help it speed its learning curve."

The Craftsman Truck Series makes its second appearance at Kentucky Speedway on July 14. Wallace drove to a third place finish in the inaugural "Kroger 225" in 2000. "This is a beautiful facility, very appealing," Wallace said. The driving is good, there's plenty of garage space, a lot of space out front and the grandstands are nice."

Kenseth's Roush Racing Team posted an unofficial fastest lap of 174.19 mph.

The $152 million Kentucky Speedway, located just outside Cincinnati, Ohio, hosts four exciting race weekends in 2001 starting in May. The NASCAR Busch Series, the nation's second richest and most popular stock car racing series, debuts in Kentucky with the "Outback Steakhouse 300" on June 16. In addition to the NASCAR Craftsman Truck Series, ARCA RE/MAX and NASCAR Gatorade All-Pro Series also return for the 2001 season. In 2000, Kentucky Speedway attracted national attention when all three series events it hosted drew the largest stand-alone crowds of the season.

The Indy Racing Northern Light Series also returns to Kentucky in 2001. Last season, Kentucky Speedway hosted the second-largest series event behind the Indianapolis 500.
