"We certainly don't have a very strong record at Phoenix, but we're hoping all of that changes this year. We have improved at most of our short tracks this year and we hope this will be one more that we can say we have improved at. I do like the track, I just wish we could have some better runs there."

BURTON ON PHOENIX...
"The CAT team has done a great job at improving our short track program. We have improved at Loudon, Richmond, Martinsville and Bristol. I feel like we can be fairly competitive this weekend at Phoenix. We just need to work real hard at getting the nose to turn and the good finish will come as a result of that."

BURTON ON THE TEAMS RECENT STRUGGLES...
"We seem to be chasing our tails just a bit lately. We came out of the box real strong and then we struggled the second half of the season. The tires have created a lot of those problems for us. We'll get a set that is the fastest on the charts and then we'll make an adjustment according to that set and it does something entirely different. That happened to us at Charlotte and Rockingham. The tires are a lot more sensitive then they used to be and it has been hard to get a handle on them.

"We have also had a lot on our plates throughout the 2000 season. If you look at the rest of the teams in the top 10, we're the only team that has had a lot going on. We are the only team that added a second team and we're the only team that is in the process of making a manufacturer switch. We, as a team, have created a lot of our own problems, but we feel that it will all be worth it next year. The Dodge Intrepid is going to be a great car and we should come out of the box very strong."

Ward Burton has put together another exciting auction to help raise some funds for the Ward Burton Wildlife Foundation. The trip includes two garage passes, two race tickets, 2-night hotel stay and the opportunity to meet Ward Burton at the NAPA 500 in Atlanta. Stand-ups and used race tires will also be given to the recipient. You can bid for the package at: http://members.ebay.com/aboutme/athletesdirect2/

The No. 22 Caterpillar Racing team planned on testing at Las Vegas Motor Speedway following this weekends race, however, NASCAR moved the test date to January since most teams were not prepared for the test.
